Only in Japan: Hatsune Miku - The Futute of Pop Stars

Japan has always been a leader in innovation. They gave us some of the greatest games, technology, and of course anime! Now the nation is creating the world's next super stars and their - holograms? That's right folks, you heard me. One of Japans biggest (and cutest!) musical talents is Hatsune Miku, a bright eyed, blue haired sixteen year old hologram.

Hatsune was created by using a software called Vocaloid, a program that allows users to type in the lyrics and melody and a computerized voice sings it. The first application product was launched in Jauray 2004. Since it's release over 100,000 songs have been recorded with the use of this software. Hatsune started off as just a simple hologram used to promote a music software called vocaloid. Following Hatsune's success new friends were added to the vocaloid family and joined Hatsune in her quest to stardom. Now Hatsune is living the best life a hologram can live. She has dolls made in her image, manga, anime, movies, toys, and even had a gig working with Toyota Corona  as a spokesmodel. She's reached Japanese pop charts and is even selling out in live concerts. There's even a site where other artist have gotten together and made their own songs and vocaloids with the same technology that is used by Hatsune.

What's so great about vocaloids is that they don't age,  don't do drugs, and can easily change their style. Not only that, but this is probably a trend that Japan hasn't been able to keep to themselves. A Korean vocaloid by the name of SeeU has already been getting attention from Kpop fans and vocaloid enthusiasts. Hatsune held a concert in California this summer exposing American shores to the virtual beauty. Crypton has discussed making an English bank of the software so Hatsune can sing in English, minus the accent. So keep on the look out guys, it would come as no surprise if the next big pop idol was to be a vocaloid!
